Ever have something you wish would be left in its original style, and giving it an updated look would just ruin it? That's how I feel about this book. Oddly, this doesn't bother me with, say, the Batman Beyond 2.0 comics, but that's probably because it doesn't give off the.updated vibe I get reading this. It's kind of distracting from the dialogue, and is almost hard on the eyes. While it remains faithful to the original show's art style (albeit with a more contemporary feel, which detracts from the nostalgia value I'd hoped it would have), it just strikes me as kind of all over the place - you know, like too much in a single panel.
FILBURT ROCKO MODERN LIFE SERIES
My biggest problem with the series is the art. And for how much I love Rocko's Modern Life, I found myself quite sorely disappointed. I was fairly strapped for cash at the time I saw it, so I decided to look up the comic online. So then, when I saw this book in a comic shop one day, I thus learned of the comic series' existence.
FILBURT ROCKO MODERN LIFE TV
Of course that wouldn't be an issue in today's world, since finding episodes to watch free online is stupid easy, but I still remember the heartbreak of my favorite TV show going off the air, even after all these years - something today's kids will never know. Especially when considering what replaced it (on the TV network I had, mind you - I'm in Canada), which if I remember correctly, was the Flipper TV series. I loved the characters, the animation, the voices.I loved everything about the show, and I'm not ashamed to say I cried like a baby when it was taken off the air.
